Guy enjoys hunting & fishing and has a background in financial services & sales. I worked as a teacher & coach at a Christian School and in management for Best Western hotels.
WORKAMPERS
Dale & Donna Short
Donna & I retired in 2002, but it wasn’t until 2007 that we began RVing. We enjoy an active lifestyle of playing Golf and riding our bikes and Donna is on a Bowling League here in the Rio Grande Valley. We are a blended family with 5 children, 9 grandchildren, 2 foster grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. When we are at home, we spend lots of time with our family and friends and lots of time fishing and swimming at a lake near our home. We’ve been married for 20 wonderful years and look forward to 20 plus years to come.
Vern & Pat Shearer
I am married to Vern Shearer, who is working in Recycling this season. In 2006 we left our home in Colorado have been wandering around the US making new friends and seeing new sights for the past 5 years. We still have our house and one day we will return there to settle back down, but for now we are enjoying our traveling adventures and living in our RV.
Eric & Gail Dawson
My name is Eric Dawson, accompanied by my wife of more than 40 years Gail. I am very pleased to be on staff at Bentsen Palms in the Facilities Group. My background is in Mechanical Construction for forty-five years and now happily retired enjoying the golden years in the nicest RV Resort in South Texas.
It is my pleasure to work in Facilities doing our best to insure a very safe, comfort- able, efficient resort, continuing to make Bentsen Palm Village and RV Resort the best in South Texas. Please be sure to make my acquaintance and allow me to address any facility concerns you have or even for just a little hello and how you are doing. Welcome and have a great stay.
Ron & Pat Eichholz
My wife’s name is Pat. We live in Murphy, N.C. We have three children and five grandchildren. I retired from NCR Corp. in Dayton, Ohio. I worked at NCR for thirty-five years in the service area. I started as a service technician and worked my way through education, troubleshooter, services planning and into management. During my career I got the opportunity to do a lot of traveling, both domestic and international. We try to spend time with the grandchildren but that is difficult due to the fact that they all live more than 500 miles away.
Bruce & Patsy McCowan
Bruce and I grew up in Michigan. Bruce owned a Tool Distribution Business and I was a Hair Dresser. We have 2 children and 6 Grandchildren. We both like to golf, and leisurely ride our bikes. We do alot of camping in the summertime. We both had projects in the wood shop last year. That was really enjoyable. We attended and enjoyed all the activities at BPV last year.
Adrian & Marie Burke
Our house lives in Ardmore, OK which we visit twice a year…Spring & Fall. We spend Summers in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC and Winter in Bentsen Palm. We have five children, ten grandchildren & six great-grandchildren. Woodworking is Adrian’s favorite thing to do and likes reading a good book now and then. Reading, Genealogy, Computer & Pyography are a few things I like to do, but taking pictures of birds & butterflies is on the top of the list.
Tim & Debbie Creaghan
Tim retired from and air traffic control career three years ago, and now enjoys travel, golf and volunteer work in his church. Debbie has also retired from her career as an interior decorator and enjoys gardening and social work volunteering. We both enjoy our two dogs (poodles) and outdoor life. Travel permits us to enjoy NASCAR, and regular music stops in Austin, Memphis and Nashville. We are making new friends each time the jacks go down on the coach, and we both appreciate the warm weather and new friends in South Texas.
James & Jule Dubach
Career focused on commercial property management including multi-tenant office buildings, residential real estate development and sales.
Jim & Linda Goudelock
Linda and I have been married 37 years with three children between us. I retired from the Navy as a Chief Hospital Corpsman in 1984 after serving 21 years and Linda is a Disabled American Veteran who was also in the Navy. We lived in New Orleans until 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit. We repaired the house, sold it, and have been fulltime RVers since. We have traveled extensively throughout the country except for the far northeast, which we may head to next spring. While we love traveling, doing new things and seeing new sights, we have found that it is the people we have met and the friends we have made that have made this lifestyle so enjoyable. We have no plans to settle down and will continue living the good life as long as possible.
Al & Joyce Jibb
We have been retired for a number of years, and have spent the last 6 years at BPV. We have made many new friends since coming to the valley, and it seems that they are from all over North America. Golfing and birding are two key reasons to stay in this area, and within this resort there are so many more activities to get involved in. In the summer, back home, we usually take a couple of short family trips, but other than that, the home and gardens take up our time.
Gord & Carol Munro
Gordon & Carol Munro have made Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort their winter home since retirement in 2006. They have been RVing since 1991, married with one son and blessed with 2 Granddaughters. In 1994 when their son went off to university they took up Country & Western Dancing, renewing their interest during their first year in Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort, since 2007 they together with their friends have been volunteer teachers for Line dancing and Couples Western Trail dancing at Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort.
Doug & Barbara Porter
I am Doug Porter: (William Douglas Porter). My wife Barbara and I live in Metamora, Michigan. This coming season will be our 4th at Bentsen Palm Village. As a Workamper, I manage the Pontoon Boat Rides. The position of pontoon ‘Skipper’ has been fun for me and I am anxious to begin again this season. For the past 3 years, we have organized a Valentine’s Day Pet Parade. This past season, we had 43 dogs entered in cute and clever Valentine’s costumes. Funds raised went to Cinderella Pet Rescue, our local no-kill shelter.
Fred & Carol Reeves
We live and grew-up in Southwest Michigan. Our town of Coloma is located between Lake Michigan and an in-land lake called Paw Paw Lake. We have been married for 17 years and between the two of us we have five grown children and six beautiful grandchildren.
Carol spent twenty years in medicine mostly in a doctor office, then on to banking for a few years and finally twenty years as head secretary to the principal at our local Junior High School. She loved every job she ever had.
After high school…Fred spent four years in the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning to S. W. Michigan he took a job with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., Louisville, KY as a sales representative. Then he moved on to Whirlpool as regional technical training manager. He was then promoted to territory manager in the sales division. Fred always had an interest in law enforcement and returned to Michigan to become a Deputy Sheriff for Berrien County. Fred held positions as Detective/Lt. and Lt. Shift Commander for the road patrol. Along the way we have always enjoyed camping and now in our retirement years we have come to the valley to find paradise.
John & Ann Scott
Married for 30 years, we have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren who live in upstate NY. We sold our home in Vermont in 2006 and became full-time RVers. Since then we have spent winters at BPV and travel north for the summers.
