The Master Plan
Bentsen Palm Development is a 2,600-acre Master Planned Conservation Development located in the City of Mission, 3 miles South of Expressway 83, next to Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park on Bentsen Palm Drive. To show its commitment to South Texas and its beautiful native habitat, Rhodes Enterprises, Inc., the developer of Bentsen Palm Development, donated $2.4 million of land to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the World Birding Center Central Visitors Facility at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park and $1.4 million of land to the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) for the building of the largest outdoor butterfly park in the world. All residents of Bentsen Palm Development are within walking distance of each of these outstanding public nature facilities.
Bentsen Palm Development, when fully built-out, will include approximately 6,000 single-family residences, 2,000 multi-family dwelling units, and 300-acres of industrial / commercial / local retail facilities. We are currently the home of IDEA Public Schools’ Mission Campus, an Exemplary campus, and a 20-acre public elementary school site is also being planned. Miles and miles of hike and bike trails connect each community to both public and community-restricted amenities.
Bentsen Palm Development will include over 180 acres of parks and open green space, including wooded habitat and approximately 2 miles of frontage along the Rio Grande River. Each of our current residential communities feature amenities such as pools, shade palapas, BBQ grills and picnic facilities, sports courts, ball fields, private nature trails, and other outdoor and indoor recreational facilities. For the growing RV community and other avid “birders,” Bentsen Palm Development offers Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort, a 265-unit park, located across Bentsen Palm Drive from the World Birding Center Headquarters.
The City of Mission recently completed a 75+ acre multi-use community park and athletic facility, Bentsen Palm Community Park, located on land donated by Rhodes Enterprises, Inc. at the northeast corner of Bentsen Palm Development on Inspiration Road. The City of Mission and Hidalgo County are currently underway with roadway improvements to Inspiration Road (the eastern boundary of the development) that will serve as a divided boulevard to the 75-acre Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery.
For our residents who like to travel abroad, and for our future commercial/industrial/retail partners, Bentsen Palm Development is conveniently located 3 miles west of the Anzalduas International Bridge. This international port-of-entry provides major access to the northern Mexico transportation routes. Traffic from Bentsen Palm Development will soon access this important port via the improvements planned for Miltary Highway. Industrial, commercial, and retail sites in Bentsen Palm Development will be located less than 10 minutes from both Expressway 83 and the Anzalduas International Bridge.
